X-Men: Days of Future Past by Chris Claremont
Cover Concept by Lorenzo Princi, 25 March 2015

The classic time travel story arc which pits the X-Men against the powerful Sentinels. In 2013, a bleak alternate future of ruined cities and dangerous criminal gangs, the mutants have become victims of strict policy enforced by the totalitarian Sentinels.

In this alternate future, many X-Men have died and the remaining few are now held in internments camps. Desperate, they devise a last ditch plan to save Earth from the Dystopia it has become. Kate Pryde sacrifices herself by sending her mind back in time and into the body of her younger self "Kitty", (only recently introduced to the franchise). Her mission is to warn the X-Men in 1980 that Senator Robert Kelly will be assassinated by the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. If they fail to stop them, it will set off events causing the apocalyptic future.

The collected stand alone edition begins straight after the events of The Dark Phoenix Saga and includes stories other than the Days of Future Past arc. Some are better than others, but none are really integral or connected to the plot.

Days of Future Past is a complex and layered race against the clock with vintage X-Men action sequences showcasing Byrne's dynamic artwork. In conclusion, an interesting time travel concept and one of the best and most important of the X-Men adventures.

Days of Future Past forms the basis for the next X-Men movie being lead by Bryan Singer to be released in 2014.
