I'm not a huge fan of serialised comics, too much history and individual story lines leaving you with a sense of not really knowing where to start. However Alan Moore's Complete WildC.A.T.S (Covert Action Teams) seemed self contained enough to make me stick my toe into the Wildstorm universe and I'm glad that I did.

The WildC.A.T.S are a Team of superheroes who have travelled from Earth because of a promise of paradise on the planet Khera. I guess you say that it is the pearl of the universe. On arrival, all their dreamy expectations seem to be met, but it is not long before they discover there is a high price to pay for this Utopia and not all is as marvellous as it seems for the denizens of Khera.

Meanwhile, far away on Earth, a new team of misfits is being formed, becoming the new WildC.A.T.S. This band of unlikely heroes is led by the Superman-like Majestic and they are declaring all out war on Earth's super-villains.

The two stories soon become intertwined as in this grandiose and fantastic saga of loyalty, honour, duty and betrayal unfolds. Told in Alan Moore's heightened style and matched by vibrant artwork full of depth, movement and a rapid pulse of action by Travis Charset.
